ABOARD XIANGYANGHONG 09, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's deep-sea manned submersible Jiaolong took a special high-definition camera to shoot scenes of a hydrothermal area in the southwestern Indian Ocean on Sunday.
The camera recorded one-hour video of the marvelous scenes of seabed, said Liao Ye, a member of the TV crew.
Employed by China Central Television (CCTV), Liao and his two teammates are making a documentary film about Jiaolong during its four-month expedition in the southwestern Indian Ocean.
The camera recorded mussels, coral and spiral shells on seabed and how Jiaolong took samples of deep-sea water, said Liao.
This high-definition video is also meaningful for scientific research of the hydrothermal area, said scientists.
Based on a Sony product, this deep-sea camera was remade for deep-sea shooting by engineers of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who helped director James Cameron shoot his 10,000-meter diving in 2013, Liao said.
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is the world's largest private, non-profit oceanographic research institution and a global leader in the study and exploration of the ocean.
MEXICO CITY, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- China has created 1.8 million jobs across Latin America and the Caribbean through trade, investments and infrastructure projects over the last two decades, according to an International Labour Organization (ILO) report on Thursday.
The report, named "Effects of China on the quantity and quality of jobs in Latin America and the Caribbean," indicated that the number of jobs facilitated by the Chinese economy in the region between 1995 and 2016 represented four percent of the total created jobs.
Around 60 percent of these 1.8 million jobs were linked to growing trade with China, 20 percent to infrastructure projects and 15 percent to direct Chinese investment, said the co-author of the report, Enrique Dussel Peters, during the presentation.
"Until today, China in Latin America has generated almost 2 million jobs," commented Dussel Peters, coordinator of the China-Mexico Studies Center at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Jose Manuel Salazar, the ILO's director for Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighted that it was the first study concerning China's impact on employment in the region. He added this showed how China was increasing its importance and influence in global trade and investment at a time of a protectionist stance from the U.S. government.
The ILO, which has 187 member states, is a United Nations agency dealing with labour problems, particularly international labour standards, social protection, and work opportunities for all.

WASHINGTON, May 25 (Xinhua) -- When Cleveland white police officer Michael Brelo walked out of the courtroom on Saturday without any conviction for his role in the 2012 shooting spree by 13 officers at two unarmed black motorists, an eerie sensation of witnessing a hideous serial with almost duplicate plot line inevitably descends on you.
Inside the courtroom, Brelo cried apparently out of relief and hugged his attorney who later called the prosecution "ruthless". Outside the courtroom, relatives of the slain couple, Timothy Russell, 43, and Malissa Williams, 30, cried out of despair and outrage and protests were once.
